Essentially, an Orangery is a type of home extension with a rectangular floor plan and a suspended glazed lantern set into a perimeter flat roof which illuminates internally to give an open, spacious feel. This design combines the main benefits of a conservatory and those of a modern home extension, due to a combination of increased brickwork and less glazing, better insulation can be achieved during the colder months, making it more suited to use all year round.
